5 World Cup Conversation Starters in English

#1

The Cup is on and you have so much to say but your teacher or friend doesn’t speak your language, so why not try to get talking in English with these conversation starters:

  1. Did you see the game last night?

Follow up questions:  Did you think ……would win?/Why?/Do you think they will win the final?

  1. Who do you think will win the World Cup?

Follow up questions:  Why?/Are they your favourite team?/Who is your favourite team?

  1. Who is your favourite World Cup player?

Follow up questions:  Why?/Do you think his team will win the final?/How are they doing now?

  1. What country are you following in the world cup?

Follow up questions:  Why?/Do you think they will win the final?/Why?

  1. Which two teams do you think will be in the final?

Follow up questions:  Why?/Are you going to watch the final at home or out with friends?

So get started. Football is an international language, just like English, joins people together for a common purpose.

Enjoy!
