I’m writing about this because it’s something I am a bit hot on at the moment. I have been doing a lot of research recently on the future of …well everything, and even though we seem to be becoming more and more technology driven, the latest research tells us in fact that we are becoming more and more human not less!

The people who succeed in the future world will be the best communicators, innovators and creative thinkers. These facets will be the key points to any education program.

English also will be the key communication medium, there is no doubt now. Even China has decided to scrap the whole Chinese language domination in the education system and has moved to making sure everyone has to speak English as well as their own language.

So … teachers and students of English need to know one thing: The future of learning is about being creative and innovative and focussing on communication.

So don’t be afraid, jump out there, make the most of all your speaking and writing activities and push yourself to creative areas you have never been before…technology will help you but won’t do it for you!

Tell me what you think!

  1. This is a great article and so true. I really like you sentence about ‘being creative and innovative and focussing on communication’. So many students are getting caught up in grammar rules that they are forgetting the main purpose of using a language…to communicate. Creativity is key and all teachers must be of a creative mindset!

    • Yes, thanks for your feedback. I agree. A few years ago we were worried that we were all going to be taken over by machines, but there has been a ‘human revolution’ against them. That’s why communication is so key now.
