HILARIOUS ESL Classroom Moment No. 9: Living in a what?

Here in Malaysia, most of our students live in apartment buildings. Here we call them condominiums or more commonly ‘condos’. The students of course in their early stages of English know that this word needs to be shortened, but don’t always get it right, so there are always a few raised eyebrows when we ask them if they are living in a house or a condominium and they confidently reply ‘I live in a condom’.

Of course their close male friends (sniggering next to them) are not going to correct them either, because well…. hey there’s a lot more mileage they can get out of this joke yet.

Tell me some more of your own!
